Well done to all the boys who performed brilliantly last season. They more than held their own and showed great skill and commitment along the way. We tried to play in the right manner and Steve and myself will continue to encourage the boys to express themselves and work hard for their team at the same time. Some of the football the boys served up last season was a joy and we will continue to pass and move not kick and rush our way through games. Thanks go to the parents/grandparents who supported us and always showed respect for refs, coaches and players.
The FA have decided to make Mini Soccer non competitive at under 8's age group now and I think that we will be in this position for a few seasons yet. I know that a few people are disappointed with this decision BUT if you watched any games last season you wouldn't have noticed any difference. The desire the lads showed was fantastic. We find ourselves in the Under 8's 'B' pool next season where we will meet some new friends and some old acquaintancies. We will run with a squad of eight players. After losing Jacob and Tom it was important to strengthen. To compliment our talented squad I would like to welcome Mitchell Heathcote who will bring quick feet and a strong engine. Sam Flavell has taken the goalkeepers jersey and shows a natural flair in this position.
