After a much improved season last year, we leave mini-soccer behind and now welcome the new challenge of 11-a-side football. This will represent a huge jump for the lads as they try to get to grips with full size goals, much larger pitches and the offside rule. However, the lads have shown in the friendlies so far that they look ready for the new season and in terms of
playing their new positions and the shape of the team we look fairly settled. They have also coped with the offside rule and the more physical side of the game really well. We always ask the lads to 'compete' in every game and whether we have won, drawn or lost so far in every friendly we have given the opposition a good run out ; even when we have played teams
from a higher division.
Luckily, we have managed to keep hold of the majority of last season's squad; only losing Elliott to Gornal's division 1 team. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his efforts over the last 2 seasons and wish him all the best with his new team. We welcome Matt Williamson, Joseph bate, jack troth, Joseph Poole, James Keogh and Liam Doherty to the squad. These lads have settled in really well and bring extra pace, ability and strength to our team and have given us some fresh impetus as we approach the new season. I hope that these players enjoy their time with us and hope that they play for us for many years to come. We now have a good squad of 15 players and the competition for starting places will be fiercer than ever before.
I would like to thank the lads for their efforts in pre-season. We started back fairly early and generally the lads have looked a lot sharper and there seems to be renewed enthusiasm towards training. Long may this continue!!

I feel that we can approach the new season with a fair degree of optimism and if we continue to show the improvement of the last 12 months then I see no reason why we cannot have a successful season.

A big thanks to the staff and management of Mueller Europe Limited and Yorkshire Copper Tube for their continued support of the team. Their financial backing is much appreciated by everybody associated with our club.
